GROUP ELECTRONIC PRESENTATION PROJECT: TOPIC IDENTIFICATION
ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS
OVERVIEW
Health policy aimed at promoting the health and well-being of our society is based on translation
of current research. It is often in need of updating based on the contemporary and/or political
context. DNP and PhD nurses both bring different yet complimentary perspectives to policy
enactment and revision.
INSTRUCTIONS
You will be assembled by the professor into teams and work as a group to propose new policy or
policy change for a contemporary health-related public policy or professional clinical practice-
related policy issue impacting advanced nursing practice. This is a 2-part, 2-week, group
assignment. For this first part of the project, you will write a 3–4-page paper together. The paper
should identify an area for domestic or global health policy development or change and include
strong, compelling rationale supporting need for the policy enactment or change. At least 8
references in support of the topic must be provided in current APA format.

Module 6 Content

Overview

Foundations of health policy creation and analysis will be explored. The urgency for the DNP and PhD prepared nurses to become involved in health policy creation and analysis in effort to improve patient and societal health will be emphasized.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this module, you will be able to:

• Discuss the process of creating policy.
• Differentiate between public, organizational, and professional policy.
• Evaluate the role of doctorate prepared nurses to influence the public, organizational, and professional policy-making process.
