Group Electronic Presentation Policy Assignment

Overview

Health policy aimed at promoting the health and well-being of our society is based on translation of current research.  It is often in need of updating based on the contemporary and/or political context. DNP and PhD nurses both bring different yet complimentary perspectives to policy enactment and revision.

Instructions

This is Part 2 of the 2-week group project. You will continue in your same group to prepare a 15-20-minute electronic presentation, or 30 professionally appearing slides (such as PowerPoint) for class viewing that illustrate a contemporary health-related public policy or professional clinical practice-related policy issue impacting advanced nursing practice. Content should include:

• clear evidence supporting policy enactment or change (this will be a brief review of the policy topic paper)
• feasibility
• ethical considerations
• barriers to change
• identification of facilitators
• key stakeholders
• role of the graduate degree nurse in the proposed policy and analysis processes
• risks associated with the status quo vs risks associated with changing
• the impact on nursing practice

Other potential topics, depending on the policy issue chosen could include:

• social determinants of health related to the chosen issue
• interprofessional/transdisciplinary initiatives in addressing the issue

For slide presentations, slides must be readable and visually appealing—not overly crowded.  The presentation should indicate each group member’s contribution either evident through speaking (if applicable) or acknowledged on a slide at the end of the PowerPoint presentation.
