NOTE:\u00a0 Do NOT use an advice-oriented article or study.\u00a0 Articles that discuss the qualities of good leadership or motivational techniques should NOT be used.\u00a0 This is not an essay expanding on points from the text – it is application focused. \u00a0 Focus on news and then see what topics may apply.\u00a0 Think about strategy.\u00a0 Is\u00a0ther<\/span>e a company that has recently changed how it competes in the market?\u00a0 Did it add a new product line or sell off a division or subsidiary.\u00a0 Or have you read of company that has expanded overseas?\u00a0 Ethics is another popular topic as is sexual harassment and other human resource topics.\u00a0 Also think about culture, task and general environments.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

1 –\u00a0 Find a news article or video that you can relate to any of the material from one of the chapters we have covered to date.\u00a0 Your paper does not have to relate to all chapters or all parts of one chapter.\u00a0 It will likely relate to all or a majority of a learning objective. \u00a0Read the article\/watch the video thoroughly.\u00a0 Try to pick an article from the last three months.\u00a0 Be sure to copy the Web address as it\u00a0wil<\/span>l be required in the paper.<\/p>\n

2 – Using the attached Assignment Form, you will write a paper connecting what you read in the article to material in the text book.\u00a0\u00a0 Follow the directions on the form. \u00a0If you do not follow the directions, points will be deducted.\u00a0 There are details in the form that you MUST follow to receive the maximum amount of points.\u00a0 See the rubric attached to the file to see how the paper will be graded.<\/p>\n

You will must cite the text book and article in your report. \u00a0Points will be deducted if the paper does not include citations. \u00a0If you are unsure, see me or go to the BCC (rm. 114).<\/p>\n

Do\u00a0NOT<\/strong>\u00a0copy and paste any portion of the article or the text into your paper. \u00a0This should be your own thoughts and in your own words. \u00a0If any portion of the paper is word for word or essentially the same words, you will be penalized under the university’s academic integrity guidelines.\u00a0 See the course syllabus for details or see me.<\/p>\n

Short quotes are acceptable but only a few and only brief quotes. \u00a0Quotes should be formatted correctly (use BCC to find out how). Points will be deducted if quotes not formatted correctly. \u00a0<\/p>\n
