You will write a 5-6 page paper that examines a case study in depth, as it relates to sports
\ncommunication, with an emphasis on one or more of the topics we have discussed in class. For
\nexample, you could choose a case study on such topics as sports gaming, gender issues, race
\nissues, disability issues, small group, crisis communication, etc. The paper should have in depth
\nanalysis of the case you choose. The title page and bibliography do NOT count toward your
\npage total.
\nTopic: UPenn Trans Swimmer Controversy: quick background then dive into how it relates to

\nBeing a case study, you should use a particular example to analyze and illustrate your thesis or
\nprinciple. A key aspect of your analysis is relating your topic back to sports communication and
\nexplaining its impact, whether positive or negative. You could choose to talk about the impact in
\nteams of the four main actors of sports communication \u2013 fans, media, organizations and
\nplayers.
\nYou should have at least 5 sources and include a bibliography on a separate page in APA 7th
\nedition style.
\nAll papers have to be typed and double spaced in Times New Roman 11 or 12 point font only.
\nThe margins must be 1\u201d on all sides. An unnumbered cover page must be included with the title
\nof the paper, your name, due date, class and teacher\u2019s name. The cover page does not towards
\nyour minimum page amount. You must number the pages, with page 1 being the first page of
\nyour paper (i.e., not the cover page).
\nThe way an argument is presented it important. In addition to the quality of the research and
\narguments presented, grammar and writing style will be factored into your grade. I am not going
\nto be overzealous in correcting every small grammatical problem, however, egregious mistakes,
\nusually the result of lack of proofreading, will hurt your grade. In order to avoid losing points, I
\nsuggest you proofread your paper.
\nA bibliography\/works cited page must be included with all papers. Any bibliography\/work cited
\npage(s) must be numbered with the rest of the written text but the bibliography\/work cited
\npage(s) do not count toward your minimum page amount.
\nAll bibliography\/works cited must be done according to APA 7th edition guidelines (this is a
\nstandard format for almost all academic writing in Communication). APA 7th edition also uses
\nin-text citation, i.e., not footnotes, to reference outside sources of information. Here is an online
