The \u00a0company primarily publishes books, both in print and online. It also \u00a0produces other kinds of content, such as audiobooks, interactive reading \u00a0material, and magazines. Your leadership has decided that it is time to \u00a0either upgrade the current OS or adopt a new one (e.g., Windows, Linux, \u00a0macOS).<\/p>\n<p>As the systems architect, you have the responsibility to determine \u00a0which OS the company should implement for each department. There are \u00a0many aspects to consider when making this decision, including what \u00a0existing applications are used by employees on a frequent basis, cost, \u00a0functionality provided, performance, vendor support, and so on. To \u00a0determine which OS should be implemented, you need to complete a site \u00a0survey first. Later, the site survey can be used to help you make a \u00a0decision as to which operating systems to implement based on what is \u00a0currently used in the department. For this activity, you will conduct a \u00a0site survey. This is also a step that you will need to take when you \u00a0submit Project One in Module Four. The feedback that you receive after \u00a0submitting this activity should be implemented as you craft your Project \u00a0One submission.<\/p>\n<h2>Prompt<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Complete a Site Survey:<\/strong> A site survey compares the \u00a0three different operating systems that the company is planning to \u00a0implement. To complete this task, use the Project One Site Survey \u00a0Template linked in the Supporting Materials area. Specifically, you must \u00a0address the following rubric criteria:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Operating Systems:<\/strong> Acknowledge what OSes are \u00a0already used in your site survey. The type of OS already used and how \u00a0many employees are using it can influence your decision making.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Server:<\/strong> Determine whether the desktops are on a hardware or cloud-based server.\u00a0\n<ul>\n<li>Although not required in this portion of the project, you may want \u00a0to think about whether or not the server should be changed. This change \u00a0could be recommended in your proposal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Standard Hardware for Operating System Types:<\/strong> Determine the minimum required hardware. This could include desktop and server.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Network Connection<\/strong>: Determine whether the network is wired or wireless.<br \/>\u00a0\n<ul>\n<li>You will want to think about whether or not the network connection \u00a0should be changed. This change could be recommended in your proposal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Applications:<\/strong> Identify what software applications \u00a0need to be supported by the OS.
