The United States, for Fiscal Year (FY) 2007, appropriated 1.2 billion dollars for international organizations1 . For FY 2015, a request will be made for 1.5 billion dollars2 . The funds, by way of a special account call the CIO, permit the United States to participate in over 40 organizations whose missions govern a range of American interests, including but not limited to security, trade, and health.<\/p>\n
While the United Nations is often criticized for being ineffectual or poised against U.S. interests, there is evidence to support the contrary.<\/p>\n
