I was born and brought up in India which as a developing country is characterized by numerous social problems such as homelessness, drug abuse, child abuse, unemployment, crime, and poverty among others. Although I was born into an affluent family where we could afford a high-quality life, I watched many around my community live without basic human needs such as quality healthcare, education and some even food since they lived in abject poverty. Due to the situation in my country, I made a resolve from a tender age that I would dedicate my life to helping people in the society cope with the problems they face by equipping them with life skills and mechanisms to improve their lives. Barrack Obama is one of the notable men across the world who inspires me greatly and he once said \u201cDo not wait for good things to happen to you. If you go out and make some good things happen, you will fill the world with hope, you will fill yourself with hope.\u201d This quote has become one of my mantras in life and I believe that my enrolment into the BSW program will equip me with knowledge and skills on how I can fill my world with hope by helping individuals experiencing diverse life challenges.<\/p>\n
