Students complete a professional portfolio as a requirement of the DNP program. The portfolio is housed in the Typhon system. The portfolio is used to showcase student work and professional achievements. See the DNP handbook for a further description of the portfolio under the “Progression/Retention/Dismissal” area.
The portfolio is started during the student’s first course in the DNP program and assignments are added as outlined in the DNP handbook. Refer to the DNP handbook for assignments that should be in the portfolio. During the DNP practicum, students will add documents from the practicum experience including:
- Updated CV or resume
- DNP Practicum documents or links to them: Practicum Goals & Objectives, Preceptor Evaluations, Practicum Hours/Tracking, Practicum Logs, etc.
- DNP Scholarly Project Documents when completed: Proposal & Final defense
- Documentation of mission work/service activities
- Continuing education records from attendance at professional conferences or CE credits, including CITI training
- Abstracts from paper or poster presentations at professional conferences
The portfolio is evaluated for completeness and quality in the first and the last practicum courses. There are tutorials in the Typhon system if students need a review of how to upload documents into or organize the portfolio. The portfolio needs to be marked as “viewable” so it can be reviewed by the course instructor. This does not make the portfolio “public” but enables those with instructor access to view portfolios on the LU DNP Typhon site. The student would need to share his or her particular link in order for others to view it. See rubric for grading details. (MLO 1, 8)
